Breeding Soundness Exams
- Male – Semen evaluations including sperm count, morphology and motility.
- Female – Consultation and aid with breeding challenges.
OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)/Genetic Testing and Consultation
- OFA – Hips, elbows, thyroid, patellas and cardiac evaluation.
- All OFA hip and elbow radiographs are done without anesthesia.
- Evaluating individuals for unwanted genetic traits that may be passed on to offspring is essential to every breeding program.
Ovulation/Breeding Timing
- Progesterone Levels – Blood is drawn after the bitch comes into heat and aids timing of insemination. Progesterone levels are generally done every other day after the onset of estrus.
- Vaginal Cytology and Vaginoscopy – Both aspects are used in combination with progesterone levels and breeding plan to schedule insemination.
- LH testing – Blood test helping us to confirm ovulation and a valuable tool when doing surgical inseminations with frozen semen.
Artificial Insemination
- Routine collection and insemination of semen.
- Collecting, extending and shipping fresh chilled semen.
- Inseminating frozen semen via surgical implantation.
Pregnancy Detection
- Ultrasound for pregnancy between 25-35 days is recommended for all breedings.
- Puppy counts – Radiographs are done 7 days prior to whelping to get an accurate puppy count to help with whelping.
